Scientific Reporting

It's the thesis, stupid! You are not important, the research is. Scientific reporting is about facts, their supporting evidence and documenting the strength of their proof. There are also clear formats for such works (see below), concerning content, phrasing, conventions and references, that are expected to be adhered to, in order to be published in reputable journals.

Scientific reports should be:

  • Empirical
  • Passive grammar, impersonal
  • Professional accreditation
  • Style (ex. footnotes, endnotes)
  • “Articles should ideally be no more than 11 typeset pages. The main text should be no more than 4,500 words (not including Abstract, Methods, References and figure legends) The title should be no more than 20 words. The abstract should be no more than 200 words.” - Nature.com
